About

Business Systems Developer · Full-Stack

King Technology

I build and improve business systems, internal tools, and websites. At King Technology I have deepened my work in business systems and integrations, supporting stakeholders and customers across a wide array of projects — from an integrated portal for contract manufacturers to integrated forms for consumers and dealers. I also work with external developers to fulfill requirements. I love creating solid software solutions for stakeholders and improving business functions, design, and reliability.

Day to day I work in SQL (data work), Ansible (managing external environments), Python, TypeScript, Svelte, and Go (deployable scripts).

Highlights

  • Built a custom tool for working with complex SQL-as-code software.

How did I get started in software development?

When I was a kid, my dad bought a crate of retired government computers — back when laptops were the size of a small carry-on suitcase. Soon after, programming books found their way into my hands and I started playing around with code. I've done a variety of things in my life, but I have always come back to software development. They say don't bring your work home with you — but when you do what you love, it isn't work, is it?

Some core values

I am a lifelong learner. I enjoy learning new things and growing, and I have found that to be essential as a developer — more than ever, as technology keeps advancing. Ruts are dangerous. I often hear "How do most people do this?" or "How is this supposed to be done?" Good questions, but I try not to overlook a more important one: "How should this be done?" If I ever stop learning, something is seriously wrong.

That brings me to another core value: seek the truth, and always be ready to be wrong. Stay adaptable and don't get stuck in a rut. Have strong opinions while keeping an open mind.

I lean toward perfectionism in both architecture and implementation, and I balance that against time constraints, deliverability, and budget. Often the simple, quick solution is the best one.
